a simple study

So I started a Bible Study on Skype with some other awesome and like minded Christian gamers I know around the country. It’s really fun knowing others with the same interests who share your faith. They are my family. Some are closer than that.

This week we are reading II Chronicles 7. A chapter that I hold dear to my heart. One that I turn to often for encouragement as well as prayer. Reading it for probably the hundredth time, this sticks out to me: we don’t have to physically sacrifice animals for God to hear us and forgive us. All we have to do is humble ourselves, and genuinely seek Him. He will answer us. God is so awesome. He sent His son as our sacrifice so we don’t have to do that anymore. I for one am very thankful for this.

It’s something I would normally not pay much attention to, but He makes it so simple. It really makes me think twice when I say to myself, oh I don’t have time to sit and pray right now. Yes. Yes I do. I don’t have to put aside hours of my day to go and kill an animal so I can burn it. All I have to do is talk. That’s it! So why am I complaining? Why am I procrastinating?

<3 you all. Blessings!

midnight

It’s midnight! I decided that I needed to update my blog just a little bit. I tend to get tired of one look after a while…and no that’s not my photo in the banner, I’ll fix that later. ;]

It’s getting toward the end of April here in Minnesota, and we just got about 7-8 inches of snow. I can’t complain. It’s beautiful. I don’t have anywhere I need to be, or things to do yet, so let it snow! Sure, I’m looking forward to spring and visiting the zoo with my son! But that can wait another week. I’m in no hurry. I’m just trying to be content with what I have at this specific time in my life. Pretty soon my summer will be packed like it always is, and I’ll be wishing I had more free time. So let it be slow…it’s a nice change of pace.

soaking

Sometimes all I need is a good soaking in God’s Word. I’m laying in bed, my earbuds in my ears and iPhone in my hand, listening to Pandora. Song after song of encouragement and truth pours into my very soul. It awakens my heart again. My life gets SO busy and SO distracting that I forget who I am. I forget what I’m here for. It’s all just a blur until I simply sit back and take it all in. I feel refreshed and I can go on. There is nothing better. I am alive. I am blessed. Thank you God. Today is Easter. It’s not about me. It’s all about Him. He is risen. He is risen indeed! Matthew 28:1-20

a year later

Last year at this time I was excited to visit my sister in Colorado. It was my first time flying on my own and though I was a little nervous, I knew all would go well. After a short delay out of Minneapolis, I arrived in Denver a half hour behind schedule. I only got turned around in the airport like three times…it’s a cool airport but I had no clue where to go!

The entire time I was there I wanted to tell her she would be an aunt next year, but I had to keep it in. Abraham and I hadn’t told anyone yet, so I had to wait!

We had planned on going to Estes Park to enjoy some hiking and the scenery, but their VW had overheated not more than 20 mins after we left their place. A good friend of theirs ended up towing us back to the house, and Luke and I then spent some time trying to fix the car. Unfortunately it never worked correctly again, but we did have fun and I’ll never forget that trip!

This time around Caleb and I are having a nice relaxing time. Visiting a river that was full of ashes from the wildfires not long ago, walking to get frozen yogurt, and spending some time at the pool. The only reason we got to go to Colorado this summer is because our friend April had asked if I wanted to join her on a road trip. OF COURSE! :] (our car is definitely not road trip worthy anymore)

It’s so good to be back in Colorado, if only for a few days. I love visiting with my sister and brother in law. Caleb likes his aunt and uncle, and their dog Molly as well. He likes petting her and getting licked.

We are heading back home on Tuesday morning, then the husband, Caleb and I are off to Las Vegas in less than 48 hours. Busy summer!

an intro

I’ve been meaning to start a blog for quite some time now. I just didn’t think I had much to say…so we will see how this goes!

First, for those that don’t know me, I’m Jen. I am 26 years old and a stay at home mom of the most precious 5 month old boy. I am married to my best friend, who also happens to be the best dad too. Lucky me!

A few things I’m into: first and foremost, God. He is my all. Everything else comes after. I very much enjoy snowboarding and photography. Like, a lot. Video games take up some of my evenings as well. It’s a fun way for me and my husband to connect with friends who also want to sit on their couches and hang out at the same time. ;]

This will be used for whatever is on my mind. Could be parenting stuff, hobbies, my faith and what I believe or anything else I’m into. I will probably link to my sisters blog as well, she’s got some good stuff. :]

Feel free to follow and read at your leisure.

Jen
